How many suitcases can I bring?

Size and number of bags

You can bring one suitcase per seat in the vehicle, up to 158 cm (height + width + length) and 23 kg each. A Standard car, for instance, takes up to three suitcases of that size, a people carrier up to five and the 8-seater van up to eight. The count follows the seats in the vehicle. Two people in a Standard do not get six suitcases, because the vehicle sets the limit. That weight is a common checked-bag allowance on airlines, so most holiday luggage fits without trouble. If a bag is larger than that, tell us before you book.

When you choose a vehicle

Every vehicle shows how many suitcases it takes, and the search marks as unavailable any vehicle without room for yours. Take three people with four suitcases. They no longer fit in a Standard, which takes three, and need a people carrier. If you carry more luggage than the vehicle takes, you add the extra suitcase under the extras of the booking. The same goes for golf bags. Once you add them the price updates, and the search shows which vehicles can take them. If none can hold your bags, we put together a quote for you. Do this before paying, so the vehicle and the total are final. Count the luggage of the whole group together.

Before you leave home

Before you set off, add up the height, width and length of each suitcase and weigh it. If one is over the limits, write to us before you book and we will sort it out with you. It is easier to settle at home than at the arrivals exit. A hard-shell case and a soft holdall do not take up the same space, and a pushchair needs room in the boot too. If in doubt, tell us what you are bringing, say one large suitcase, a pushchair and two rucksacks, and we will tell you which vehicle suits.
